WELCOME - This site was created in order that a variety of images could be easily accessible to both friends and family. We started the web site in early 2006 and didn't make any format changes for almost two years. In January of 2008 we decided to make some changes and replaced the template (the basic design). We didn't want to get away from the main reason for having the web site (sharing images) so we consolidated some albums, eliminated some, and created some new ones. In addition to the change in template (hope you like the new colors) and revised albums, the Video Archive is now active and you can now leave a comment at our Visitor Center. Also, while the images constitute the majority and original intent of the web site, we have also included some of our Favorite Links. Below are brief descriptions of each album currently residing on our album page.
A CALIFORNIA WEDDING - 21 JUNE 2008: Whitney and Brian were married in Glendale California. The wedding was held in 100+ degree temperatures, and there were two receptions - one on the west coast and one on the east coast a week later. Whitney and Brian will make their home in West Virginia.
A TEXAS WEDDING - 25 OCTOBER 2008: Abbey and Benj were married in Katy Texas in another outdoor wedding - this one about 30 degrees cooler than the last outdoor wedding we attended. The wedding was followed by a reception complete with overhead tent and plenty of food and dance. Abbey and Benj will reside in Spring Texas.
AERONAUTICAL: Images of heavier-than-air flying machines.
AMERICA FROM THE ROAD: Images of the many scenic and historical offerings in the area - and beyond. Album includes images from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive in the western part of Virginia; National Parks such as Antietam, Shenandoah, Jamestown Island, and Yorktown Battlefield; and Virginia's Historic Triangle that includes Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. There are plenty of scenic and historic by-ways to keep most anyone busy for a long time. It is our hope to bring you the best of our views 'from America's roads.'
A TRIP OUT WEST: Debbie tries to take at least one trip a year out west to see the west-coast families. On this last trip she actually bought a camera and took quite a few images. This album includes images from the 2008 trip. Maybe in 2009, David will tag along on the trip out west as well.
BACKYARD BIRDS: Images of birds taken in our backyard in Williamsburg and other 'backyards' and locations as well.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS: Images of family and friends.
FLOWERS AND SUCH: We finally got around to populating this album with some images from 2007 (the before images) and 2008 planting season. There were some surprises during this planting season - such as the success (especially if you like sunflowers) of David's 'sprinkle seeding' project. What is that you say? Buy a number of flower seed packages - rip them open and throw all the seeds in a bowl and throw a pinch here, a pinch there .... add water and see what comes up.
GREAT BLUE HERONS: Images of our favorite water fowl and the focus of an original album. This album will feature only images of the Great Blue Heron (except for a few images of the Heron Colony Island). The heron colony is located at Cheatham Annex (annex of Yorktown Naval Weapons Station) in York County Virginia; the colony itself is located on an island on Cheatham Lake.
NAUTICAL: Images of shipping on area waterways such as the Atlantic Ocean, Hampton Roads, Chesapeake Bay, and the numerous rivers in the area such as the James and York rivers. Please note that the images of the US Navy ships are embedded with a link (click on the image) to their official US Navy web site.
SPORTS AND ACTION: Images of 'action' shots (well, as much action as we old folks can stand anyway) taken at sporting events or other activities.
WEATHER: Images borne from extreme weather; includes images from Hurricane Isabel (Sep 18 2003) and Tropical Storm Ernesto (Sep 1 2006) as well as other images related to the weather.
WHITETAIL DEER: Images of another favorite subject. Like many parts of the country, there are a great number of whitetail deer in the area, from our backyard to Jamestown Island to just about everywhere one goes.
WILDLIFE: Images of wildlife not included in the other more specific albums. Divided into AIR, LAND, and WATER categories.
X-FACTOR: Unique images not included in the albums listed above.
